Yvonne Rosemarie Shaw, MP, is the Member of Parliament for St. Thomas Eastern and a nationally respected advocate for people-centered leadership, inclusive development, and transformational representation. With a distinguished career spanning public service, local governance, community development, and social advocacy, MP Shaw has consistently championed the interests of ordinary Jamaicans through compassionate leadership and action-oriented governance. A graduate of the University of the West Indies with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work, she began her professional journey serving in youth, social, and community development through the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, the Social Development Commission, and the Jamaica Youth Corps, now the National Youth Service. Her entry into local government marked a historic milestone, as she became Jamaica’s youngest Councillor and youngest Mayor, establishing a legacy of servant leadership and breaking barriers for youth and women in governance.

Today, MP Shaw continues her parliamentary journey with a steadfast commitment to representation that is accessible, compassionate, and people-driven. Her advocacy remains focused on youth empowerment, agricultural innovation, infrastructure modernization, education support, employment creation, and strengthening community development programmes that improve everyday lives. During her tenure as Councillor of the Morant Bay Division, she played an instrumental role in reimagining transportation access through the development of the Morant Bay Transportation Centre, creating a more organized and modern space for commuters, vendors, and residents. Guided by the belief that leadership must unite rather than divide, MP Shaw remains committed to governance that listens to the concerns of the people, values cooperation over confrontation, and advances meaningful progress for the people of St. Thomas Eastern. For MP Shaw, leadership is not measured by power held, but by people helped; a call to serve with humility, listen with purpose, and place the needs of the people above the politics of self.
