Hansard
The Hansard Reporting and Editing Sections are responsible for producing the Hansard, the official record of Parliament. Verbatim notes of all Parliamentary debates and meetings of Parliamentary Committees are recorded by Stenotype Writers.
The Hansard Editing Section oversees the editing and publication of the proceedings of the House of Representatives and the Senate. These records are printed and bound in volumes according to the Parliamentary Session in which the proceedings took place and are subsequently laid on the Table of the respective House.
Library
The Parliamentary Library is available for use by Parliamentarians and the public. Its collection includes records of parliamentary proceedings, such as Hansard and Minutes of Proceedings, committee reports, documents tabled in both Houses, the Laws of Jamaica and Subsidiary Legislation, and documentation relating to global parliamentary activities. The Library also provides access to journals, newsletters, and publications from various regional and international organizations, as well as information on a wide range of subjects.
Committee Administration and Research Branch
The Committee Division is responsible for supporting the work of the Parliament’s Committees. The Division is responsible for the administrative and research activities of Parliamentary Committees. Each Committee is assigned a Committee Clerk. Committee Clerks provide procedural advice and administrative support to the committees assigned to them, ensuring their effective and efficient functioning in accordance with the Standing Orders and other relevant rules and guidelines.
